A few weeks ago while photographing Aliesa’s senior photos, someone managed to snap a few photos of the photographer! In case you haven’t heard of one of Coeur d’ Alene’s finest contemporary artists, Steven A. Scroggins is amazing! His paintings are vibrant, bold, and stunning. His painted red canvas with the words “blue” painted on it struck my eye and I just had to use it as a background for a shot (check out Aliesa’s sneak peak for the final picture – July 21, 2009 post). Luckily his gallery is open on Saturdays and he let us photograph her in front of the painting so we wouldn’t get the reflection from the glass. While I was busy snapping away he went to grab his camera and snapped a few of me photographing Aliesa. While I tend to object being on the other side of the camera, I think they turned out great! Thank you Steven. If you haven’t had a chance to check out his gallery you need to head to 110 N. 4th St. – Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho.

Last weekend I went with Steve over to Montana for a few days to camp, mine for crystals and sapphires, and go to some hot springs. Well it seems our little trips are always adventurous for sure, could be since we’ve always taken the motorcycle. Yes, you guessed it, our mini vacation was filled with spurts of rain and even pea-sized hail! It was a great trip other than being wet and cold. Luckily I have a very sweet boyfriend who takes good care of me. Now I don’t know the exact areas we went but if you’re interested in a little nature getaway and want to try your luck at finding some gems to make yourself some jewelry let me know and I’ll try to give you directions. I was able to find several crystals and almost 6ct. of cuttable sapphires and about 55ct. of smaller or flawed sapphires.  Between the rain and hail I managed to snap a few photos along the route. We sure did come across some beautiful areas, my favorite was the live moo moo crossing.

Since I’ll be taking this weekend off to go over to Montana camping and mining for sapphires and crystals I figured I’d post some photos from this past Fourth of July. I spent it in Usk, Washington with my boyfriend and his family. It was filled with swimming, a barbecue, a hillbilly parade, and camping. At the parade we were on a float that was transformed into a pirate ship and filled with pirates. I’ve included photos of the ship and it’s crew. I also managed to snap some shot of the beautiful scenery. Photos from last week’s trip will be posted in the next few days (I managed to snap some shots of a cattle road block for all you cityslickers).
