TIPS FOR YOUR SESSION
{SENIOR SESSION}
{LET’S TALK ABOUT CLOTHES}
1. Bring at least 5 and no more than 9 outfits. Come dressed in one of your casual outfits. Arrive on time and with your hair done and makeup already applied.
2. Bring a few solid color items as well as prints or patterns. Remember that solids and small prints usually photograph best.
3. Make sure everything is ironed and on hangers, wrinkles will ruin a photograph. To help cut time, place each set of jewelry in a plastic baggie and hang it on the hanger with the outfit you’ll be wearing it with.
4. Bring last year’s or this years prom dress! There are some great shots we take that you don’t want to miss out on!
5. Bring some long sleeve shirts as well as short sleeve. Remember that sleeveless shirts tend to make your arms looks bigger when making your shirt choices.
6. Make sure you accessorize, don’t forget shoes, accessories and jewelry for each outfit.
7. Bring the proper undergarments for each outfit, i.e. bring the proper bra for each top. If layering clothes make sure they look good together, the undershirt isn’t bigger than the over shirt, etc.
8. Switch it up, a little sexy is okay, but don’t make all of your outfits that way. We photograph everything from prom dresses to swimsuits, cheerleading outfits to raggedy jeans and novelty t-shirts, party dresses, your boyfriends football or baseball jersey, baseball caps, hats, heels, and boots, layers, jackets, sweaters, hats, gloves, skirts, dresses, pants, Capri’s, jeans, jeans with holes, your senior jeans, winter hats and scarves, coats with hoods and fur. Check out fashion magazines for ideas on new trends and fashion. Never under estimate how gorgeous you might look in a cowboy hat. Winter hats, brimmed hats. Accessories take your session from blah to FABULOUS!
9. What one person likes may not be appropriate for the next person. Our philosophy is that as long as it is rated PG, we don’t care.
{Makeup}
Girls-your images will look better if you wear makeup. Even if you don’t normally wear it, I suggest going to your favorite department store makeup counter and having them apply your makeup. They can do it so that it looks completely natural. Having your makeup done by a professional really adds a level of professionalism and finish to your shots.
{Lips}
Pale shades of lipstick do not photograph well because they make your lips blend into your skin. You want to go a shade or two darker than you normally would. Be sure to bring at least lipstick and powder to your session. Also bring a brush, hair clips, etc. for hair changes. Guys make sure you bring chap stick.
{Eyes}
Since many of your portraits will concentrate on your eyes, please make sure your eyeliner is straight and there are no clumps in your eyelashes. Mascara is key. Failing to wear it will make you look like you have no eyelashes whatsoever in your portraits.
{Acne}
All portraits that you purchase will have basic retouching done to them, so you don’t have to worry about a couple pimples. Wearing a light foundation and translucent powder will give your portraits a polished look, evening out your skin tone.
{Personality}
Make sure your bring things that show your personality. Like to read? Bring books. Like to shop? Bring lots of shopping bags. Are you in sports? Bring your uniform and sports gear. Like to listen to music? Bring your personal CD player or iPod. Are you a shoe person? Bring all your shoes! Bring anything that shows who you are and what you like to do! Finally, make sure you browse through plenty of magazines and check out facial expressions. Practice in your mirror for different looks. Flirty, happy, sad, fun, angry. Prepare to just have fun!
